Frequently asked questions

Why switch to cloth pads?

Comfort has got to be one of the best reasons for the switch. Cloth pads are soft and absorbent and don't contain any chemicals, which means they are better for you, and the environment.
Women have reported having lighter and less painful periods since using cloth, and with no rash or irritation.
They can be made to your choice of size and absorbency, and you get to decide what fabric you prefer next to your skin.
Your skin absorbs whatever is put on it, thats how face creams or body lotions work, but the harmful chemicals that go into the making of disposable sanitary towels are against a most sensitive area of your body.
You then wash and reuse them so zero waste to the environment.
It's worth giving cloth a try, to see for yourself.

What are the pads made from ?

We use patterned cottons, jersey, and other organic fabrics like bamboo velour, (which is hand dyed by us,) and our natural or bare organics.
The core or inner layers are manufactured by Wazoodle Fabrics in the USA.
They specialise in absorbent and organic materials.
Manufactured with no harmful chemicals or finishes.
The highest quality-assured organic fabric on the market.
We use different combinations to create the right absorbency for your needs.
The backer is Wazoodle ProSoft® Organic Cotton Fleece with PUL, this is a waterproof layer, and the organic fleece keeps the pad from sliding around.
Cloth sanitary pads (CSP) are snapped around the gusset of snug fitting underwear and held in place with a Kam snap.

Will cloth pads leak?

By using the best quality absorbent fabrics available we hope to eliminate any problems with leaking.
Making sure you're in the right absorbency of pad helps too.
All of our pads have indicator tags sewn into them with between one and four drops on. A heavy pad will easily absorb a light flow, but a light drop pad will not cope well with a heavy flow.
We can all get caught out by an unexpectedly heavy period, and even disposables leak when that happens.
As with everything, once it is saturated it will leak.
However, the beauty of cloth pads is that you don't have to keep a pad on to feel like you're getting your moneys worth.
Change the pad whenever you begin to feel uncomfortable.
Wash the pad, dry it and its ready to reuse again.

Care instructions

After using your CSP rinse off any blood in cold water.
Wash as normal on a 30° or 40° wash load.
NEVER use any fabric softener or conditioner with cloth pads.
Softener is designed to smooth out fibers, and this makes liquids run off, and makes them less absorbent.
Pads can be tumble dried on a low heat cycle, but they are best line dried in the fresh air, sun and wind.
The sun helps to naturally fade out any stubborn stains.
Solar and wind power are free, so a further saving for you.
So simply rinse in cold water, machine wash, no softener and line dry.
Sustainable zero waste periods.
